关于 Hantamap
An open, multilingual early-warning system for hantavirus outbreaks — built to be faster, more transparent and more data-rich than any other public source.
Our mission
We believe public health is a public good. Hantamap.de turns scattered, hard-to-find official outbreak reports into a single live map — in six languages, with full source attribution and no paywall.
How we work
Collect sources
Pipeline workers ingest fresh content every 60 minutes from WHO DON, ECDC, CDC NNDSS, PAHO, ProMED-mail and multilingual Google News feeds.
Verify & classify
An AI classifier checks hantavirus relevance, assigns severity and event type, and extracts case and death counts.
Geocode
Locations are resolved to city, region or country level via Nominatim with an LLM fallback geocoder.
Cluster & approve
Multiple signals from the same region are clustered into outbreaks. Critical clusters only go live after human approval.
Why better than other maps?
- Real-time pipeline instead of manual updates
- Six languages with native source coverage
- Pulsing live markers with severity halos
- Migration trails between connected outbreaks
- Open API for researchers and newsrooms
- GDPR-compliant, hosted in the EU
