What is Hantamap?

Hantamap.de is a free, multilingual live map for hantavirus infections. We aggregate daily reports from the world's most important epidemiological sources — WHO Disease Outbreak News, ECDC Communicable Disease Threats Report, CDC NNDSS, PAHO Epidemiological Updates, ProMED-mail, and multilingual Google News feeds — and visualise every confirmed outbreak with case counts, deaths and exact location. The platform covers both HFRS (haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome) and HCPS (hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome) and supports six languages: German, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Chinese.

    Six source workers check for new reports every hour. Outbreak clusters refresh every five minutes. Translations to six languages run every ten minutes automatically.

  • Watch regions & email alerts

    Add one or more countries to your watch list and receive every new report by email. Default after registration: a global watch region.

    All signals are available as JSON, GeoJSON, RSS and JSON Feed — free for journalists, researchers and public-health agencies (CC BY 4.0).

Trusted data sources

We pull data directly from official endpoints at WHO (Disease Outbreak News), ECDC (Communicable Disease Threats Report), the US CDC (NNDSS), PAHO (Epidemiological Alerts and Updates) and ProMED-mail. Multilingual Google News coverage in six languages adds further context. Every signal links back to the original source.
